Strong Island Princess by WoWxSaBaW Strong Island Princess by WoWxSaBaW
:iconshikiren96: Challenge COMPLETED! :iconvictoryplz: This is also an accomplishment for me since I already have 100 deviations on my page. WooHOO! :iconranranruuplz:

Anyway, for those of you who don't know, I accepted a little dare from :iconmaphilindo-x-world:, which was to make Hetalia Philippines a strong and independent woman. I loved the way it turned out and I wish I could have more time to do it in color! :iconmonkeyloveplz:

A few comments before I do college hw!
:bulletblue: I usually see fanart of Philippines being cute. And although that is true, Filipinos can also be sexy without overdoing it. Time to show that.
:bulletred: Did anyone notice that most of Philippines main suitors, (Brunei, Mexico, America) got their butts kicked by Piri before she liked them???? She strangled Brunei when they were kids (in the Maaf comic), furiously punched Mexico in boxing (in the Maaf comic and real life) and gave America and extremely hard time in the jungles (she only surrendered when America was KILLING INNOCENT CIVILIANS). See everyone! Piri is no pushover, she was just testing them.
:bulletyellow: Ate Piri is never really one to fight senselessly. She fights for the independence, respect and safety of her people. Like the mothers in her nation, Philippines does whatever she can to do for her children.

I'm surprised no one has told me to shut up in the comment section yet. I mean, do people read this............. :iconotlplz: My artist comments are way to long for their own good.

I'm so happy that you love it! :iconyaypilipinasplz! I just can't wait to see what happens next with her character specifically. I mean from the way I see her in your comic, she hasn't noticed Spain's injustices towards her people. Probably because Spain is sugar-coating her world.

Here is what I can say about the Philippines historically. Pretty sure this also applies to Indonesia too. Different regions and islands reacted to the Spaniards differently yet they were able to make compromises in terms of culture. Philippines is probably going to take an even longer time until she realizes that the majority of her people are discriminated against in her islands. Don't really know about Indonesia or Malaysia, but that's just what I think.
PIRI will put up some GOOD FIGHTS! I can't wait.

A final note (sorry for the long comment), please let me know when you get to the Spanish-American and Philippine American War, so I can point you to some sources. Don't have much on the Philippine Revolution since I live in the US.
Keep up the good work and take your time, Ate.

NP! Just let me know when you need them specifically so that I can find the right sources. Would you like both the American view and the Philippine view, either one, or a neutral zone?

Some books of course glorify the Americans, but there are plenty of other ones that show injustices.

I am happy to help!

BOTH PLEASE \(QWQ)/ ALL OF THEEEEM!!
Both the biased, the neutral and the injustice.
I would like USA POV too so we can feel his remorse as well as Philippine POV too so we can understand her feelings of betrayal. Oh God, this is going to be one emotional roller coster.

Sure thing! I'll get you the sources asap.

Quick little summary about the emotional roller coaster for the Philippines and America, so that you have a preview.
--> Americans were really cocky at first because they believed that they can win. But as soon as Alfred got word about his people going against the idea of America being an colonizer, he soon looked at his own morals. He says that he stands for the free and value independence yet, he was conquering another nation. His officials would have convinced him that Filipinos are uncivilized and need help becoming independent (which is the excuse that ALL the colonizers had used to justify their control).
--> On the other hand, Philippines is suffering from the disorganization of her army. She knew that she couldn't deal with America face to face, so she decided on guerilla warfare, which had brought some innocent civilians in danger. She struggles with the idea of either saving her people or gaining her independence.

I think the most important thing about the Philippine-American war is that the war had started and is based on CONFUSION. Both sides did not know how to deal with each other, culturally and in war. But the Philippines got the worst end of the stick with most of her innocent civilians died. The reason why Americans and Filipinos have become such great friends is that after the war, both sides tried their best to make amends. (And that Philippines is very forgiving).

I'll just get the sources closer to the date that you want them in.
